Williamson Moves to WaterBrook

Dave Schroeder at Working Title Agency sold world rights to WaterBrook’s Laura Barker to two picture books by Dorena Williamson (ColorFull, B&H, 2018). The first, titled Crowned with Glory, is an “affirmation of God-given beauty and confidence for Black and brown girls,” according to the publisher. Shellene Rodney will illustrate, and it’s slated for publication in spring 2022. The second, with the working title I Know Who I Am, will follow at a later time.

Convergent Nabs Philip Yancey Memoir

Derek Reed, editor at Random House imprint Convergent, bought North American rights from Kathryn Helmers of Creative Trust to Phillip Yancey’s memoir, Where the Light Fell. Yancey (What’s So Amazing About Grace?) for the first time explores the story of his upbringing in the fundamentalist South. Publication is slated for October 2021.

Brazos Doubles Up

Robert Hosack of Brazos Press acquired world rights to two unagented books by Ryan Smith and Dan Wilt. The first, 75 Days in the Psalms, is scheduled for spring 2022. The second, 75 More Days in the Psalms, releases a year later. Each book will provide prayers as mirrored responses to half of the Psalms.

Broadleaf Takes Enneagram Guide for POC

Founder of the Enneagram training website Thin Space Collective Chichi Agorom, who was unagented, sold world rights to a book on the Enneagram for Black women to Lisa Kloskin at Broadleaf Books. The untitled book, which is slated for spring 2022, features practices intended to help those who live on the margins of society—especially Black women— in building a sense of self, with help from the Enneagram ancient typing system.

Tyndale Adds to 'Jerusalem Rising'

Tyndale House Publishers’ Becky Brandvik, senior director, gift and specialty, took world rights from Yochanan Marcellino of City of Peace Media to Jerusalem Rising: The City of Peace Reawakens by Doug Hershey. The book is the second installment in Tyndale’s The Ancient Prophecy / Modern Lens nonfiction series. Jerusalem Rising will feature photography by Edden Ram and release on Aug. 3, 2021.

Comer Re-Ups with WaterBrook

Andrew Stoddard at WaterBrook acquired world rights from Mike Salisbury and Matt Yates at Yates & Yates to two books by John Mark Comer, pastor at Bridgetown Church in Portland, Ore. The two books are Practicing the Way of Jesus, releasing in fall 2023, with Your Life is the Person You Become to follow at a later time. Additional details about the books were not yet available.

Zondervan Takes Two

Zondervan’s associate publisher Stephanie Smith took world rights from Don Gates of the Gates Group to two books by The Common Rule (IVP, 2019) author Justin Whitmel Earley. The first untitled book, scheduled for fall 2021, aims to help parents bring intentionality to mealtimes, bedtimes, and other daily routines so home can become a place of love. The second untitled book is tentatively slated for spring 2023; further information was unavailable.
