Tyndale House executive publisher Jan Long Harris announced Friday she will retire from the Christian publishing house on March 20. During her tenure, Harris developed Tyndale’s nonfiction offerings by forming new imprints and drawing in New York Times bestselling authors.

In 2012, Harris moved up from her post as associate publisher for nonfiction to become publisher of the newly established Tyndale Momentum imprint. Its titles focus on spiritual growth, Christian living, and personal stories and include the bestseller Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy with Nathan Whitaker.

When Harris launched the wellness imprint Tyndale Refresh in 2021, she told PW it would offer Christian insights into physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health because "God cares about us mind, body, and soul." In her retirement announcement, Harris called Refresh, "one of the great privileges of my career."

Harris also led BarnaBooks, a partnership imprint with the Barna organization, a Christian research company, that produced such titles such as Revolution by George Barna and Pagan Christianity? by Frank Viola and George Barna.

"Jan’s contributions to Tyndale and the Christian publishing industry are immeasurable,” said Ron Beers, chief publishing officer, in a statement. “She has a remarkable ability to identify voices and messages that speak powerfully to both heart and mind. She has acquired and developed some of Tyndale’s most significant and successful titles. Just as importantly, she has mentored colleagues with generosity and intentionality."
