Kregel Acquires Veteran Novelist
Mark Rice, interim publisher at Kregel Publications, landed world rights to a three-book series from novelist DiAnn Mills, who is represented by Steve Laube, who has an eponymous agency. The first title, Deadly Response, releasing in fall 2027, features paramedic Jade Thompson who is key to taking down a crime syndicate, said the publisher. Book two will come out in spring/summer 2028, and book three in winter 2029.
Couple's Devotional Tied to Bible Book
Brazos Press editorial director Katelyn Beaty acquired world rights to 40 Days of Better Ways to Read the Bible by husband-wife duo Zach W. Lambert and Amy Lambert. Set for release in summer 2027, it draws on Zach Lambert's August 2025 book Better Ways to Read the Bible. Zach is lead pastor of Restore Austin, and Amy is a writer and pediatric speech-language pathologist. The couple was agented by Christopher Ferebee, who has an eponymous agency.
IVP Title Examines Deconstruction
InterVarsity Press associate editor Rachel Freire O’Connor bought world rights to the tentatively titled Jesus and the Reconstructors: Rebuilding Faith in the Gospel of John by Aaron Hann, a Christian counselor in Kansas City, Kan. Hann studies how deconstruction, a major topic in Christian conversation, fits into the story of Scripture, according to the publisher, pointing to how deconstruction and reconstruction of faith is central to Jesus’s mission as per the Gospel of John. The author was was unagented.
Brazos Takes Swoboda on Relationships
Brazos Press executive editor Bob Hosack has taken world rights to the unagented A. J. Swoboda’s The Relational Genius of Jesus, which will release in spring 2028. Swoboda, associate professor at Bushnell University and lead pastor of Faith Center in Eugene, Ore., makes the case that Jesus Christ offers “the world’s most compelling vision of human relationships,” said the publisher.
