The 700,000+ subscribers to Mamrie Hart’s YouTube series, You Deserve a Drink, already know about the custom cocktails that Hart creates each week in honor of whoever in pop culture needs it most. Now this “drinking star with a YouTube problem,” as described by her publisher, brings that bawdiness to the page in a new cocktail she recommends for BookCon attendees. Hart, in offering up the Bad Apple cocktail to fans in the Big Apple, says, “This is the perfect drink to read with my book [You Deserve a Drink: Boozy Misadventures and Tales of Debauchery, May], especially during BookCon, because it’s in honor of New York. Unlike the radioactive neon green apple martinis you see girls spilling on their bandage dresses in the Meatpacking District, this is a classier approach. Plus, it’s rimmed in caramel. That’s probably all you need to know.”

Mamrie Hart will be doing an autographing today, 4–5 p.m.(Table 8) At 5:30, she teams up with fellow YouTube sensation Connor Franta for a panel discussion in Room 1A23.

1½ ounces Calvados or other apple brandy

1½ ounces vodka

2 ounces fresh apple cider

½ ounces ginger liqueur

Put everything in a shaker of ice and go to town. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a slice of apple, or if you want to be really bad, dip the rim in that delicious caramel dip they stock in the produce department.
