For the second month running, Germany’s fiction list was led by Norwegian author Maja Lunde’s novel The History of Bees in June. The multigenerational speculative fiction tale will be published in August in the U.S. by Simon & Schuster’s Touchstone imprint. In the second position is The Era of New Beginnings by Carmen Korn, the second in a trilogy about four women from Hamburg. Physician and comedian Eckart von Hirschhausen’s memoir Miracles Work Wonders tops the nonfiction bestseller list.

Fatherland by Fernando Aramburu, a literary thriller about Basque terrorism, tops the fiction bestseller list in Spain, followed by Chilean bestseller Isabel Allende’s latest novel, In the Midst of Winter. At the top of the nonfiction list is In the Dark by Antonio Pampliega, a memoir of the journalist’s year as a hostage of terrorists in Syria. In the second slot is Fernando Ónega’s What Has Happened to Us, Spain?, an analysis of the past 40 years of Spanish history after the fall of the dictator Franco.

Italian author Elena Ferrante’s final volume in her Naples quartet, The Story of the Lost Child, is #1 on the Swedish fiction charts. It is followed by a pair of new releases from perennial Swedish bestsellers: Top Dog, the latest thriller from Jens Lapidus, and Behind Your Back, the new mystery novel from Sofie Sarenbrant.
