A memorial service will be held February 5, for literary agent Manie Barron, who passed away January 8. The service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 325 Park Ave. (between 50th and 51st Streets) in New York City.

The service will last about an hour and will be hosted by Manie’s wife, Wendalyn Nichols, and a reception and "sendoff party" will follow. Guests are asked to please RSVP through Socializr.com so Wendi will have some idea of how many people are coming and if anyone can bring food or drink. Donations to help defray the cost of the memorial can be made using PayPal.com. Click on “send money” and follow the instructions. To find the right account type in Wendi’s email address (wendalyn.nichols@gmail.com) in the “to” field.

Wendi encourages Manie’s friends to send her any favorite photos or video links of him that you may have. She's also looking for videographer for the memorial and she would like to hear of any music or songs that remind you of Manie that she can use for a playlist. Guests are requested to wear red (which Manie liked to see on a woman) or pink (his favorite color, because he looked good in a pink shirt). Wendi has also requested that if anyone in the New York area knows a soul, R&B or gospel singer or piano player who can play on Feb. 5 please contact her. In her words, “Manie will haunt me just on principle if his memorial ends up all stiff and soulless.”

In addition, a college scholarship fund has been established for Manie’s daughter, Veronica. To contribute, please send a check made out to Veronica Grace Nichols Barron c/o Carrie Kania at HarperCollins, 10 East 53rd Street, New York, New York, 10022.
