Open Road Integrated Media has released Jean Craighead George’s Julie of the Wolves as an e-book, along with 11 more of the author’s titles, which were originally published between 1948 and 1985. This is the first time that George’s Newbery-winning story of a 13-year-old Eskimo girl who is protected by a wolf pack while lost on the Alaskan tundra will be available digitally.

The 12 selections, including How to Talk to Your Animals, an introduction to animal communications for both adults and young adults, represent George’s passion for nature animals and writing. The other titles are: Hold Zero!; The Summer of the Falco; Going to the Sun; Bubo, the Great Horned Owl; Dipper of Copper Creek; Masked Prowler; Meph, the Pet Skunk; Vison, the Mink; Vulpes, the Red Fox; and Snow Track.

This is not Open Road’s first foray into classic children’s literature. Last year the company published in e-book format the first 19 titles of the Boxcar Mystery series written by Gertrude Chandler Warner, and will eventually release all 150 titles in the series, which is published by Albert Whitman. Also among the company’s growing children's list in e-book format: Mr. Popper’s Penguins; multiple titles by Virginia Hamilton, John Gardner, and Sheila Walsh, as well as the Franklin the Turtle and Buddy Files series.
