So Hogwarts is actually in... Orlando?

From tasting Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans to visiting Ollivander’s wand shop, Potterphiles will soon be able to live out fantasies of life in Hogwarts. Universal World Resort has revealed some advance details about “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” a Potter-themed addition to Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Fla. Scheduled to open in spring 2010, the 20-acre attraction (the New York Timesreferred to it as a “so-called theme park within a theme park”) will feature shops, food and entertainment drawn from J.K. Rowling’s books as well as the Harry Potter films.

Among the offerings: Hogsmeade destinations such as Honeydukes (for chocolate frogs, etc.), Zonko’s joke shop and “Dervish and Bangles” (for Quidditch supplies); a “Flight of the Griffith” roller coaster; Hogwarts castle (which will include a “state-of-the-art” ride called “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey”); and, of course, the opportunity to pick up numerous mementos and memorabilia at “Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods,” including Omnioculars and remote-control Golden Snitches. An image gallery and additional information are available on Universal’s “Wizarding World” Web site.
