We Are the Dinosaurs by Laurie Berkner, illus. by Ben Clanton. Simon & Schuster, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-6463-5. Popular children’s musician Berkner brings another of her songs to the picture book crowd with this Mesozoic-themed picture book adaptation.

Big & Little Questions (According to Wren Jo Byrd) by Julie Bowe. Penguin/Dawson, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-8037-3693-1. In this middle grade novel, nine-year-old Wren Jo Byrd has spent the summer with her grandparents after her parents revealed that they are getting divorced, avoiding messages from her best friend, Amber. Upon returning to school, Wren is determined to conceal the truth from her classmates about the painful changes at home. The book earned a starred review from PW.

The Catawampus Cat by Jason Carter Eaton, illus. by Gus Gordon. Crown, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-553-50971-7. In this picture book, a tilted cat arrives in town and spreads sly catawampus enchantment all over town, making people do and see things in new ways. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Star Scouts by Mike Lawrence. First Second, $14.99; ISBN 978-1-62672-280-4. In this middle grade graphic novel, Avani Patel has a serious case of new-kid blues, and the fact that her father has signed her up for a local Flower Scouts troupe only makes matters worse. But Avani winds up joining another group of scouts altogether after she’s abducted by an enthusiastic blue alien named Mabel, who is working on her Star Scouts “collection badge.”

Stand Up and Sing!: Pete Seeger, Folk Music, and the Path to Justice by Susanna Reich, illus. by Adam Gustavson. Bloomsbury, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-8027-3812-7. Reich and Gustavson, who previously collaborated on Fab Four Friends, deliver a portrait of musician and activist Pete Seeger, focusing on how his deeply held convictions galvanized his music.
