No Good Deed by Kara Connolly. Delacorte, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-385-74393-8. Olympics-bound archer Ellie Hudson is in Nottingham, England, for a tournament when a detour into off-limits caves transports her back in time to the Middle Ages.

Flight Risk by Jennifer Fenn. Roaring Brook, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-62672-760-1. Debut author Fenn tells a multilayered story of identity, ambition, and societal expectations as she chronicles the misadventures of Robert Jackson Kelley, who becomes known as the Lollipop Kid after he steals and crashes three private airplanes.

Whobert Whover, Owl Detective by Jason Gallaher, illus. by Jess Pauwels. S&S/McElderry, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-6271-6. Debut author Gallaher’s pun-laden whodunit picture book starts with a classic scene: Perry the Possum, “lying awfully still” on the forest floor. Whobert, a self-appointed and self-important detective, doesn’t waste time with details like gathering evidence.

One for Sorrow: A Ghost Story by Mary Downing Hahn. Clarion, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-544-81809-5. A 12-year-old grapples with friendships, vengeful spirits, and the Spanish Flu epidemic in Hahn’s middle grade ghost story.

The Ends of the World by Maggie Hall. Putnam, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-399-16652-5. In the final volume of the YA romantic thriller series Conspiracy of Us, the protagonist makes one final grab for power.

What Goes Up by Katie Kennedy. Bloomsbury, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-61963-912-6. In Kennedy’s second novel (after Learning to Swear in America), scientists have proven that the universe is infinite, NASA has created the Interworlds Agency to explore the implications, and it’s looking to add a young new team to its roster.

The Library of Fates by Aditi Khorana. Razorbill, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-59514-858-2. This YA novel is set in a world where gods and spirits walk among mortals.

Stay: A Girl, a Dog, a Bucket List by Kate Klise, illus. by M. Sarah Klise. Feiwel and Friends, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-250-10714-5. In this picture book, a dog ages as a newborn grows up. The book earned a starred review from PW.

The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell. Simon Pulse, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-3207-8. Maxwell (Unhooked) introduces an alternate version of present-day New York City, where those with magical talents, known as Mageus, are trapped in the city by a magic-stealing barrier created by the Order, an organization bent on getting rid of the Mageus.

The Wendy Project by Melissa Jane Osborne, illus. by Veronica Fish. Super Genius, $12.99; ISBN 978-1-62991-769-6. Debut author Osborne’s grim, fast-moving YA novel is a reboot of Peter Pan. The book earned a starred review from PW.

The Scariest Book Ever by Bob Shea. Disney-Hyperion, $16.99; ISBN 978-1-4847-3046-1. Shea’s ghost narrator talks a good game about being brave, but readers will see right through him—especially after he spills orange juice on himself and spends the rest of the book “naked.”
