In Some Other Life by Jessica Brody. Farrar, Straus and Giroux, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-374-38076-2. With a Sliding Doors–style setup, Brody (A Week of Mondays) examines “grass is greener” attitudes and the rippling ramifications of one’s choices, in her new YA novel.

Little & Lion by Brandy Colbert. Little, Brown, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-316-34900-0. After a year at boarding school, 16-year-old Suzette is happy to be home for the summer, but that doesn’t mean life is simple, in this novel that deals with issues of mental illness, sexuality, and race.

The Real Us by Tommy Greenwald, illus. by J.P. Coovert. Roaring Brook, $13.99; ISBN 978-1-62672-171-5. Alternating among the perspectives of three adolescents, Greenwald (the Charlie Joe Jackson series) digs into the social dynamics of middle school and body image as the story builds to the first school dance of the year.

Little Red Riding Sheep by Linda Ravin Lodding, illus. by Cale Atkinson. Atheneum, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-5748-4. Enthusiastic Arnold is tired of sheep—such as himself—being relegated to the background in books, so he inserts himself into the story of “Little Red Riding Hood.”

Ruth Bader Ginsburg: The Case of R.B.G. vs. Inequality by Jonah Winter, illus. by Stacy Innerst. Abrams, $18.95; ISBN 978-1-4197-2559-3. Winter (The Secret Project) and Innerst (The Music in George’s Head) use the frame of a court case to trace the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Grandma’s Tiny House by JaNay Brown-Wood, illus. by Priscilla Burris. Charlesbridge, $16.99; ISBN 978-1-58089-712-9. In this picture book, a grandmother welcomes her family, friends, and neighbors into her small home, and everyone arrives with lots of food and energy. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Here Comes Teacher Cat by Deborah Underwood, illus. by Claudia Rueda. Dial, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-399-53905-3. When Ms. Melba has to go to the doctor, the star of Here Comes the Easter Cat and its sequels reluctantly agrees to be a substitute teacher at Kitty School. The book earned a starred review from PW.
