Last month, author Julie Fogliano and illustrator Christian Robinson set out on a seven-city tour in celebration of their new picture book, When’s My Birthday? (Roaring Brook/Porter, Sept.). The book follows a diverse array of children as they excitedly count down to their birthdays. In keeping with the book’s festive spirit, the collaborators visited schools and bookstores across the country for storytimes, art demonstrations, signings, and more. The tour kicked off on September 29 at Walden Elementary School in Deerfield, Ill., and wrapped up at Left Bank Books in St. Louis, Mo., on October 8. We’ve gathered a selection of highlights from their travels.
