In 2016, Macmillan and the New York Public Library embarked on a partnership to publish a line of print and e-books for children and adults, inspired by the library’s collections. In celebration of two additions to the program—Lost in the Library, a picture book by Josh Funk, illustrated by Stevie Lewis, and The Story Collector, a middle grade mystery by Kristin O’Donnell Tubb—NYPL hosted events at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on September 8 and 9. A portion of all book sales will go toward supporting the NYPL and its mission to provide free access to information and education. We’ve gathered a selection of photo highlights from the book launches, which included scavenger hunts, musical performances, and more.

The Story Collector author Kristin O’Donnell Tubb helps scavenger hunt participants at the library on September 8. Inspired by the life of Viviani Joffre Fedeler, who was born and raised in the NYPL, the book follows 11-year-old Viviani and her two friends as they try to figure out if the library is haunted and what happened to the expensive new stamp collection.
