Amy Is Famous by Barbara Bottner, illus. by Yuyi Chen. Imprint, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-250-13490-5. In this picture book, Bottner (Priscilla Gorilla) explores classroom dynamics through two fame-obsessed girls.

The Past and Other Things That Should Stay Buried by Shaun David Hutchinson. Simon Pulse, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-9857-9. Death isn’t much of a mystery for 17-year-old Dino DeLuca, the protagonist of this YA novel, whose family owns a funeral home.

The Art of Losing by Lizzy Mason. Soho Teen, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-61695-987-6. Debut author Mason deftly moves between past and present in this YA novel to realistically portray protagonist Harley’s anger, guilt, and shame, and her complicated feelings about her younger sister, who is in a coma after a drunk driving incident.

The Great Unknowable End by Kathryn Ormsbee. Simon & Schuster, $19.99; ISBN 978-1-5344-2050-2. Using alternating perspectives, Ormsbee (Tash Hearts Tolstoy) skillfully parallels nature’s disturbances with her characters’ internal turmoil to create a suspenseful YA novel.

Good Enough by Jen Petro-Roy. Feiwel and Friends, $16.99; ISBN 978-1-250-12351-0. Twelve-year-old Riley chronicles her two-month stay in the hospital, where she is being treated for anorexia.

The Happy Book by Andy Rash. Viking, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-451-47125-3. Rash presents a story about the interconnectivity of emotions, presenting each as a distinct realm dominated by a moody primary color.

The Donkey Egg by Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel, illus. by Janet Stevens. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-547-32767-9. Sisters and frequent collaborators Stevens and Crummel return to the setting of Tops & Bottoms, Stevens’s 1996 Caldecott Honor Book. This time, Bear is tricked into buying a donkey egg.
