Random House Children’s Books has announced the forthcoming publication of a new YA true crime mystery from A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder author Holly Jackson. The Reappearance of Rachel Price will be released on April 2, 2024, with a first printing of 500,000 copies.

The novel follows 18-year-old Bel, who has never been satisfied with the lack of answers surrounding her mother Rachel Price’s disappearance 16 years ago. As the Price family prepares to film a documentary about Rachel, the seemingly impossible occurs: Rachel returns. What should be a perfect happy ending for the family only leaves Bel with more questions about where her mother has been.

“I have never been so excited to announce a new book as I am for The Reappearance of Rachel Price,” U.K.-based author Jackson said in a statement. “Writing this book utterly wrecked me, and that’s why I think it might be my best yet.”

The hashtag #GoodGirlsGuideToMurder has nearly 80 million views on TikTok, and Jackson’s popular three-book series has remained a mainstay of the New York Times bestseller list; the books are also being adapted into a BBC series.

Two more novels from Jackson are slated for release following The Reapperance of Rachel Price.

Kelsey Horton, senior editor at Delacorte Press and Jackson’s U.S. editor, said of Jackson’s latest book, “It’s about deception—the way people and memories can both lie to you. Holly is known for her twists, and this novel won’t disappoint.”
