Jody Corbett at Scholastic has acquired, in an exclusive submission, North American rights to two YA titles by The Honeys author Ryan La Sala. The first one, titled The Dead of Summer, is about a teen fighting to survive a deadly summer in a queer resort town off the coast of Maine after it is put into lockdown to contain a mysterious, supernatural plague rising from the sea. Publication is planned for fall 2025; Pete Knapp at Park, Fine, & Brower Literary Management negotiated the deal.


Alexandra Sehulster at Wednesday Books has bought Olivia Worley's next YA novel, Final Cut, described as a thriller-horror where the daughter of an infamous serial killer is cast in an upcoming slasher movie, and begins to notice eerie similarities to her father's crimes years ago, as the bodies start dropping one by one. Publication is scheduled for October 2025; Claire Friedman at InkWell Management brokered the deal.


Dana Chidiac at Henry Holt has acquired two contemporary YA novels by Trinity Nguyen (A Bánh Mì for Two). Sweet Heat is an enemies-to-lovers romance that follows two young chefs competing on a reality TV cooking show, slated for summer 2026. Bad Idea, Right?, planned for summer 2027, follows a cheerleader who tries to win back her ex by making a deal with his new girlfriend, only to encounter an unexpected romantic twist. Naomi Davis at BookEnds did the six-figure deal for world rights.


Karen Chaplin at HarperCollins/Quill Tree Books has bought, at auction, Tempest by K. Ibura, a YA coming of age novel with magical elements. Sixteen-year-old Veronique has spent her entire life on a secluded farm with no one but her grandmother for company. When her MawMaw falls ill, Veronique must start life over in New Orleans with a family she never even knew she had, all while keeping a huge secret—that she has the power to control the wind. Publication is slated for summer 2025; Lanie Davis at Alloy Entertainment negotiated the deal for North American rights.


Nancy Siscoe at Knopf has acquired exclusive North, Central, and South American rights for The Dysfunctional Family's Guide to Murder by Kate Emery. In this YA murder mystery, narrated by a sassy teen who's read enough mysteries to solve one herself (or so she thinks), Ruth's family holiday takes a turn for the deadly when her step-grandmother dies under mysterious circumstances, and the suspects are all her closest relatives. Publication is set for fall 2025; rights were acquired from Allen & Unwin, and Carey Schroeter represented the author.


Claire Stetzer at Amulet has bought Funerals Are for the Living by Sami Ellis, a YA horror novel about a girl whose investigation of strange happenings at her sister's gravesite gets her kidnapped by a racist cult with ancestral ties to a sorcerous slave master. Publication is scheduled for spring 2026; Maeve MacLysaght at Aevitas Creative Management brokered the deal for world English rights.


Maya Marlette at Scholastic has acquired world rights to two new books from Jen Calonita (l.) and Elizabeth Eulberg, featuring four girls all named Taylor, after Taylor Swift. The Taylors by Calonita, a middle-grade novel, features the characters meeting in fifth grade and going on an adventure to score tickets to the Eras tour. Eulberg's Love Stories (The Taylors Version #1), a YA novel, follows the same four girls as they navigate high school and first loves. The two books will be simultaneously published in October 2025, with a sequel, Cruel Summer (The Taylors Version #2), coming from Eulberg in spring 2026. Dan Mandel at Sanford J. Greenburger Associates represented Calonita, and Kate Schaefer Testerman at KT Literary represented Eulberg.


Kiara Valdez at First Second has bought, in an exclusive deal, Skatefire by author-illustrator duo Stephanie Evangelista Fukuda (l.) and Daigo Fukuda, a YA adapted from their webcomic of the same name, about a skate crew that tries to stop their island's volcano from erupting by bringing back an annual skate festival. Publication is planned for 2028; Monica Rodriguez at Context Literary handled the two-book deal for world rights.


Liz Bicknell, for Candlewick, acquired Newbery Medalist Laura Amy Schlitz's (The Hired Girl; Splendors and Glooms) next middle-grade novel, The Winter of the Dollhouse, the story of an 11-year-old-girl who wants the most beautiful European doll in her local toy shop but can't afford it; and the story of the antique doll who longs for a girl who she'll belong to but feels trapped, and how their twin stories of adventure, thievery, and daring collide over one fateful winter, with a cast of characters including a slightly witchy old woman, a magnificent cat, and a dog who speaks in doggerel. Publication is set for fall 2025; Stephen Barbara at InkWell Management did the deal for North American rights.


Tara Walker at Tundra has bought the first two books in the Cabin Head and Tree Head graphic novel series by Scott Campbell (Hug Machine). Cabin Head and Tree Head are best buddies who think differently and jump headfirst into light-hearted adventures in an off-the-wall world with other pals such as Library Head, Pool Head, Automobile Head and Trash Can Head. Publication is slated for fall 2025 and summer 2026; Steven Malk at Writers House negotiated the deal for world rights.


Kade Dishmon at Holiday House has acquired Moniza Hossain's The Fear Factory, a middle grade horror novel, in which a lonely boy travels to his family home in Singapore to connect with his deceased mother; when he meets her ghost, frozen in time at age 12, he'll have to untangle the decades-old mystery keeping her trapped—even if it means losing her forever. Publication is scheduled for fall 2026; Uwe Stender at TriadaUS brokered the deal for world rights.


Megan Abbate at Bloomsbury has bought, at auction, How Not to Go Extinct: The Wild Ways Earth's Most Resilient Species Survive, by the scientists and illustrators behind the YouTube channel MinuteEarth. This nonfiction middle grade guide to avoiding extinction features illustrations, splashy facts, and the scientifically rigorous but accessible explainers that MinuteEarth has become known for. Publication is planned for 2027; Reiko Davis at DeFiore and Company negotiated the deal for world rights.


Nick Thomas at Levine Querido has acquired Ami Moon and the Galactic Peacekeepers, a graphic novel trilogy for chapter book readers by debut creator Frances Lee. The series follows a human girl teaming up with her beloved crew of Peacekeepers on missions across the galaxy, all while she tries to get back to Earth and the mom and dog she left behind. Publication of book one is slated for fall 2025, with books two and three to follow on a yearly schedule; the author represented herself.


Katie Carella at Scholastic Acorn has bought, in an exclusive submission, world rights to the first three books in the fantasy early reader series Dragon Hill by Tracey West (l.) (Dragon Masters), illustrated by Carolina Vázquez. The series follows best friends Ember the Fire Dragon and Gus the Mushroom Dragon as they go on adventures around the hill. Publication is set for fall 2025; the author represented herself, and Sol Salinas at Astound US represented the illustrator.


Taylor Norman at Holiday House/Neal Porter Books has acquired Not So Super Hero, written and illustrated by Yevgenia Nayberg. This picture book is about a child trying to become a superhero to appease his immigrant parents' expectations, but he can't seem to be of much help to anyone. Publication is scheduled for spring 2027; Kelly Pelsue at Morgan Gaynin sold world rights.


Kaylan Adair at Candlewick has bought The Most Perfect Box of Art Supplies by Sarah Lynne Reul (The Breaking News; Beansprout), a picture book about a girl who is very excited about her brand-new box of art supplies, but panicked that she might make a mistake and ruin the whole set. A spring 2027 publication is planned; Emily Mitchell at Wernick & Pratt Agency did the deal for world rights.


Nicole Fox at RISE x Penguin Workshop has acquired Fall Day, All Day by Ezra Jack Keats Award winner Kari Percival (How to Say Hello to a Worm), a picture book celebrating the ways we connect to changes in nature, with a second book to follow. Publication is slated for August 2026 and 2027; Teresa Kietlinski at Bookmark Literary Agency sold world rights.


Katie Ten Hagen at Magination Press has bought Mary Reaves Uhles's debut author-illustrator project, The Flock We Found. Baby Bird hopes that if he can win prizes and applause at Field Day, Papa Bird will finally come home happy. But when Field Day doesn't go exactly as planned, Baby Bird discovers a wider flock that is there to lift him up, even when others let him down. Publication is set for fall 2025; Tracy Marchini at BookEnds Literary Agency sold world rights.


Deirdre Jones at Little, Brown has acquired world rights to Snake's Shoes by Gideon Sterer (The Christmas Owl), illustrated by Drew Beckmeyer (I Am a Tornado), about a window-shopping serpent who sees an intriguing pair of shoes and won't take "you don't have feet" for an answer. Publication is scheduled for winter 2027; Stephen Barr at Writers House represented the author, and Stephanie Fretwell-Hill at Red Fox Literary represented the illustrator.


Regan Winter at Disney-Hyperion has bought world rights to Madina's Big, Fabulous Win and an untitled sequel, by Joëlle Retener (l.), illustrated by Kennedy Loraine. When Madina's fat, fabulous, fearless Momma decides to sign the two of them up for a race, Madina takes it upon herself to design the perfect running outfits to show off their big girl magic in this story about self-confidence. Rotem Moscovich at Knopf has acquired, at auction, world rights to Love Is a Shape by Kate Hoefler (l.), illustrated by Audrey Day, a picture book that reveals the shapes that make up our lives and the many forms love can take. Nancy Paulsen at Penguin/Nancy Paulsen Books has bought world rights to Go Tuk Tuk Go! by Varsha Bajaj (l.) (Thirst), illustrated by Bao Luu, a picture book about a three-wheeled taxi who's excited for Mumbai's Diwali celebration but can't help comparing himself to the bigger, more powerful vehicles in the crowded streets around him. Joanna Cárdenas at Kokila has acquired world rights to The Magnificent Banyan Tree and the Green Tong Lau by Stephanie Ellen Sy (l.), illustrated by Ishita Jain, a picture book about an apartment community frustrated by an invasive banyan tree until one dark and windy night fills them with gratitude for its strength. Christine Engels, while at Candlewick, bought world rights to Our Feet Were Not on the Earth: Breakidz in Gaza by Danielle Davis (l.) and Ahmed Alghariz (c.), illustrated by Noor Alshalabi (r.); Ainslie Campbell-Schwartz will edit. Based on real life and Camps Breakerz in Gaza, which Ahmed co-founded 20 years ago, this picture book tells of a child living in wartime Gaza and how learning to break dance with a crew provides comfort, connection, and grounding. Publication is scheduled for fall 2027; Amy Thrall Flynn at Aevitas Creative Management represented the authors, and the artist represented herself.


Michael Yuen-Killick at Red Comet Press has acquired, in an exclusive submission, world rights to One Little Fishing Boat by Brooke Hartman (l.) (All Aboard the Alaska Train), illustrated by John Joseph, a picture book that follows a family's day of adventure aboard their little fishing boat on the wide arctic seas. Carolyn Yoder at Astra/Calkins Creek has bought world rights to A Voice for the Quiet: Gordon Hempton Defends the Sounds of Nature, a picture book biography by Heather Ferranti Kinser (l.), illustrated by Jasu Hu, that tells the story of an American environmentalist and acoustic ecologist who observes, preserves, and protects the natural world in an unexpected way—by recording soundscapes and calling attention to noise pollution.
