Karina Yan Glaser recently hit the road for a two-week tour to celebrate her new middle grade novel, The Nine Moons of Han Yu and Luli. The story follows two children living in different timelines and embarking on parallel journeys to save their families. Glaser visited 23 schools, made appearances at bookstore events, and spent the tour decked out in yellow outfits to match her book cover. We’ve gathered highlights from her travels.


On September 14, Glaser (front r.) kicked off her tour with an appearance at Welcome to Chinatown HUB in New York City, hosted by local bookstore Yu & Me Books. The author held a conversation with author-illustrator Ruth Chan (front l.) and a room full of readers.


Students at Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School in Washington, D.C., gave Glaser a warm welcome during her visit on September 17. The author held a presentation on her work and offered students tips on how to write their own stories.

On September 18, Glaser visited Emerson Elementary School in Elmhurst, Ill., where she was welcomed by a visual interpretation of 141st Street, the home featured in her popular Vanderbeekers series.


The Montague Street location of Books Are Magic in Brooklyn, N.Y., hosted both Glaser (l.) and fellow author Rebecca Stead for a joint book launch event on September 20.
