Dial Books for Young Readers has three promotions. Kathy Dawson has been named associate publisher and editorial director; she was previously associate publisher. Liz Waniewski has been promoted to senior editor, from editor. Alisha Niehaus has been promoted to senior editor, from editor.

Scholastic’s trade division has several promotions and new hires. Stacy Lellos has been promoted to v-p, trade marketing. Most recently she was director of brand development and strategic planning, spearheading the company’s Harry Potter initiatives from 2000-2006 and leading The 39 Clues creative and marketing teams. Rachel Coun has been promoted to executive director, hardcover marketing; she was previously director, hardcover marketing. Julie Amitie has moved to the newly created position of director, cross channel marketing; she was director for Paperback, Licensing, Cartwheel and Point marketing. Emily Sharpe has been promoted to assistant marketing manager; she was previously marketing coordinator. Gavin Brown has been promoted to manager, multi-platform publishing; he was previously content producer.

In new hires. Nick Eliopulos has joined Scholastic Trade as editor; he was most recently with Random House Children’s Books. Laurie Mirch has joined Scholastic as Klutz sales manager, specialty independent; she was sales manager at Playroom Entertainment. Candace Greene has joined Scholastic as marketing assistant, author events/trade conventions and library & educational marketing.

Caryn Kaminker has joined the trade finance team as senior financial analyst; she was a senior analyst at L’Oreal. Charlie Young has joined the trade sales team as southeast district sales manager; he was previously at Simon & Schuster.

There are three promotions in the editorial department at Random House Children’s Books. Geof Smith has been promoted to executive editor, from senior editor. Christy Webster has been promoted to associate editor; she was assistant editor. And Chelsea Eberly has been promoted to assistant editor, from editorial assistant.

Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing has several promotions and a new hire. Alexandra Penfold has been promoted to editor for the Paula Wiseman imprint; she was previously associate editor. Kimberly Boyer has been promoted to assistant editor of Little Simon; she was previously editorial assistant. Jessica Echeverria, Lydia Frost, Julia Maguire and Navah Wolfe have been promoted to assistant editors; they were previously editorial assistants. Catharine Sotzing has been promoted to associate marketing manager, education and library; she was assistant marketing manager. Cara Petrus has been promoted to associate art director at Simon Pulse; she was previously senior designer. Michael McCartney has been promoted to senior designer for the Atheneum, McElderry and Beach Lane imprints; he was previously designer. Nick Sciacca has been promoted to senior designer at Simon Spotlight; he was previously designer. And Lydia Finn has joined the children's publicity team as publicity assistant.
