Aladdin’s Lamp Children’s Bookstore, in Arlington, Va., has announced that it will close the store at the end of June. In an email to customers the store wrote, “We would like to thank all our customers for their support, patronage and friendship over the years. It has been wonderful being part of this community for so many years, and we will miss you greatly.”
Variety reported on Wednesday that Fox 2000 will release the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie sequel, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, on March 25, 2011. Production could start as early as this summer.The first film, which was released on March 19, has grossed $61.5 million domestically.
Al Roker's latest pick for his Book Club for Kids is Kiki Strike: Inside the Shadow City by Kirsten Miller (Bloomsbury). Miller will appear on The Today Show next Thursday, May 20, during the 9 a.m. hour. Her new novel, a YA fantasy called The Eternal Ones, comes out in August from Razorbill.
