Marcia Wernick and Linda Pratt, veteran literary agents who spent the majority of their careers at the Sheldon Fogelman Agency, are decamping to start their own eponymous outfit. The pair, who handle children's authors and illustrators, have worked together for more than 20 years and will focus on everything from picture book authors to YA novelists at the new agency, to be called Wernick & Pratt.

When asked why the pair decided to start their own venture, Wernick said that, despite many happy years at Sheldon Fogelman, "It just became time to pursue our own agency in order to fully realize our vision for the future, for ourselves, and for our clients." Wernick would not speak to numbers when asked how many clients she and Pratt are bringing with them, but said they have received "overwhelming support" from their authors.

With Wernick and Pratt's departure, two agents are left at the Sheldon Fogelman Agency — Sheldon Fogelman and Sean McCarthy.
