As part of a Barnes & Noble program to provide e-books for grades K-12, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt will provide age-appropriate, International Reading Association-recommended digital content that has been pre-loaded for classrooms on NOOK Color and Simple Touch Readers. Books include HMH’s Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell, Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry, and The Willoughbys, also by Lois Lowry.
“This partnership with Barnes & Noble will ensure that students are inspired and encouraged to continue their learning through a love for reading. By giving students access to quality content in a format that lets them consume it anytime, anywhere, we hope to increase overall student achievement and engagement,” said HMH president and CEO Linda K. Zecher.
As part of the program, schools can purchase pre-loaded new or refurbished NOOK readers.
