The Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators opened its annual exhibit, The Original Art, which celebrates the best in children’s book illustration.

The exhibit was founded in 1980 by illustrators’ agent and art director Dilys Evans. This year's display features 125 books selected by a jury of illustrators, art directors, and editors. At the opening reception and awards ceremony on October 24, the Society honored three artists for their contributions to children's book illustration: a silver medal was awarded to Jon Klassen for The Dark (Little, Brown) and Simona Mulazzani for I Wish I Had... (Eerdmans). The gold medal winner was Jennifer Yerkes for A Funny Little Bird (Sourcebooks Jabberwocky).

The exhibit is on display from October 23 through December 21. To see a full list of the featured artists, click here.
