Candlewick Press in Somerville, Mass., and its local independent bookstore, Porter Square Books in Cambridge, Mass., are collaborating on a book table at the nearby Davis Square Farmers Market, starting Wednesday, August 20.
For six Wednesdays through October 15, Porter Square Books will sell picture books about farms published by Candlewick – from Martin Waddell’s Farmer Duck, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, to Vivian French’s Yucky Worms, illustrated by Jessica Ahlberg. The bookstore is also planning to hold story times and to offer other activities at its book stand.
“We are thrilled to have this chance to connect more directly with the neighborhood and broader Somerville community, and to support our local bookstore,” said John Mendelson, senior v-p of sales and digital initiatives at Candlewick.
“Somerville and Cambridge are vibrant communities with a strong sense of the value of shopping locally. This partnership helps us be another one of the many threads stitching our community together,” added Porter Square marketing director Josh Cook.
