Monster Mash!

Peter Brown (center) visited Cleveland Elementary School in Washington, D.C., on August 29, to share My Teacher Is a Monster! (No, I Am Not) (Little, Brown, July) with readers. The event was coordinated by An Open Book Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes literacy among children in the D.C. area. Each student at the event – seen here joining the author in making their best monster faces – received a copy of Brown’s book.

Up Close and Personal

Mariano Rivera (center), former New York Yankee and author of The Closer: Young Readers Edition (Little, Brown, Sept.), was interviewed by three kid reporters from the United Cerebral Palsy Center of Nassau County for Kidsday, the child-centered section of Newsday, at his meet-and-greet event at Barnes & Noble in Carle Place, N.Y., on September 2.

Making History

Margaret Peterson Haddix’s September 2 launch party for the seventh book in her Missing series, Revealed, took place at Fundamentals in Delaware, Ohio. Because of the historical nature of the sci-fi series, the bookstore hosted a costume party for fans, inviting them to dress like figures from the past. Haddix (seated) is currently on a joint tour for Revealed with Lisa McMann, for her fourth book in the Unwanteds series, Island of Legend.
