Klonsky joins the company from HarperCollins Children’s Books, where she served as editorial director, overseeing such series as Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen, Katharine McGee’s The Thousandth Floor, and Sara Shepard’s Pretty Little Liars. Other authors Klonsky has worked with include Jodi Lynn Anderson, Kasie West, Sarah Mlynowski, Meagan Spooner, Maria Headley, Claudia Gray, Amy Tintera, Sophie Jordan, Joelle Charbonneau, Misa Sugiura, Melissa Walker, Jennifer Gilmore, and National Book Award winner Robin Benway.

Prior to her position at HarperCollins, Klonsky was editorial director of Simon Pulse.

She succeeds Jennifer Besser, who moved to Macmillan Children's Publishing Group in October.

Jen Loja, president of Penguin Young Readers said in a statement, “I am delighted to have Jen join our group here at Penguin Young Readers. I’m sure that her mix of publishing savvy and a terrific nose for great reads will be a perfect addition to Putnam and we look forward to many years of successful book making with her and her team here.”
