Here we round up new and forthcoming children’s titles, including a pop-up Valentine, a lovey-dovey take on a bestseller, a picture book about unlikely friends, and a story about where animals migrate in winter.

I Love You: A Pop-Up Book by David A. Carter. Abrams Appleseed, $14.95; ISBN 978-1-4197-2734-4. Carter pairs abstracted and at times almost architectural pop-ups with a love poem stocked with metaphors.

Click, Clack, Moo I Love You! by Doreen Cronin, illus. by Betsy Lewin. Atheneum/Dlouhy, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-4496-5. Little Duck has big plans for Valentine’s Day in this addition to Cronin and Lewin’s long-running series.

Mouseling’s Words by Shutta Crum, illus. by Ryan O’Rourke. Clarion, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-544-30216-7. This picture book retelling of Aesop’s “The Lion and the Mouse” pays tribute to the way books can unite even the unlikeliest of friends.

Somewhere Else by Gus Gordon. Roaring Brook/Porter, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-62672-349-8. When winter comes, “most birds go Somewhere,” explains Gordon (The Catawampus Cat). Come Home Already! by Jory John, illus. by Benji Davies. HarperCollins, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-237097-6. In another installment of the series about a grumpy bear and a duck eager to be his friend, Bear’s idyllic fishing trip is interrupted.

Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills. Holt, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-62779-937-9. In this YA novel, one teen is taken aback by her friend’s unexpected new friendship with their private school’s class president and infamous mean girl. The book earned a starred review from PW.

100 Things I Love to Do with You by Amy Schwartz. Abrams Appleseed, $16.95; ISBN 978-1-4197-2288-2. Schwartz follows 100 Things That Make Me Happy with item-by-item proof that just about anything can be an adventure when it’s done with a beloved parent, sibling, or friend.

Groundhug Day by Anne Marie Pace, illus. by Christopher Denise. Disney-Hyperion, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4847-5356-9.
