Charlton Villavelez at Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing has been promoted to production coordinator, from production assistant.

Beth Phelan has joined the Gallt and Zacker Literary Agency as an agent. Most recently she was with the Bent Agency; she is also the creator of #DVpit, a Twitter pitch event for marginalized voices. She will continue to represent middle-grade and teen fiction.

Kane Press has two new hires. Joy Bean has joined as senior editor. She was previously senior editor at Little Bee Books and held editorial roles at Marshall Cavendish and Random House Children's Books, and was also associate children's book editor at Publishers Weekly. Jes Negrón has joined as editor. Previously, she was editor at video game company Riot Games and associate agent with Talcott Notch Literary. They will both work on Kane Press books, as well as titles for the new trade imprint StarBerry Books.

Nicole Banholzer is launching Nicole Banholzer PR, a children's book publicity business. Formerly, she worked in the publicity departments of Macmillan Children's Books, Random House Children's Books, and Sasquatch Books. She can be reached here.

Emily Petrick has been promoted to assistant manager of school and library marketing; previously she was an associate in the school and library marketing department.
