This week, Yuyi Morales celebrates Dreamers with Holiday House; a book launch features free Yeti hugs; actor-turned-author Thomas Lennon dines with Readerlink staff; and a social service organization holds a Back to School book fair.

Dream Crew

Yuyi Morales celebrated the launch of her picture book, Dreamers, and the Spanish-language edition, Soñadores (Holiday House/Porter) at the Holiday House offices, following by an event at Books of Wonder in New York City. Here, Morales (front center) is joined by enthusiastic staffers, just prior to a Champagne popping.

A Hairy Situation

Lija Fisher’s launch event for her middle grade novel, The Cryptid Catcher (Farrar, Straus and Giroux)—about a boy who becomes a hunter of mythical creatures—was held on August 26 at Boulder Bookstore in Boulder, Colo. A special guest attended the event: Yeti, who eagerly greeted Fisher’s fans.

Gather Round!

Staffers from Readerlink, a publisher and book distributor located in Oak Brook, Il., recently gathered to meet and celebrate with actor and writer Thomas Lennon (r. center). Lennon (The Odd Couple) has a debut middle grade novel, Ronan Boyle and the Bridge of Riddles (Amulet), forthcoming next March.

Ready for Reading!

New Alternatives for Children (NAC) is a New York City-based organization that provides services for vulnerable children and their birth, foster, and adoptive families. The organization held a Back to School event at the Prince George Ballroom in Manhattan on August 23, which included a book fair, back-to-school backpack giveaways, games, and other activities. Here, a young attendee, who recently learned to read, has a look at Ryan T. Higgins’s We Don’t Eat Our Classmates. Joining him is Kasey Blau, family support supervisor at NAC.
