This week, Marietta Collins and Marianne Celano speak about racial healing in Charlottesville; Kenneth and Sarah Jane Wright visit a Georgia school; and an author celebrates her book at the American Museum of Natural History.

A Day of Healing

Marietta Collins and Marianne Celano, co-authors of Something Happened in Our Town: A Child’s Story About Racial Injustice (Magination Press) gave a presentation about the book at the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library in Charlottesville, Va., on January 22. The library is located near the park where the Unite the Right rally and riots took place in 2017. The authors were invited to speak in honor of the National Day of Racial Healing. Here, Collins signs books for attendees.

Home Grown

Authors Kenneth and Sarah Jane Wright recently toured for their second picture book in the Lola Dutch series, Lola Dutch When I Grow Up (Bloomsbury). The married collaborators visited Harmony Elementary in Monroe, Ga., on January 16. During the school visit, Sarah Jane (pictured) and Kenneth read to students and talked about growing up and enjoying the moment.

And the Rest is (Natural) History

Author Karen LeFrak’s picture book Sleepover at the Museum (Crown) takes place at a museum based on the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, so the museum was a fitting venue to celebrate the book’s release. On January 22, fans and friends joined LeFrak in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life at the AMNH for cocktails and exhibition sights. Here, LeFrak (l.) greets museum president Ellen V. Futter.
