Penguin Workshop’s bestselling history and biography series Who HQ and nonprofit civic education provider iCivics have teamed up on a campaign to help students learn about local and federal election processes, understand the power of their vote, and hopefully become lifelong active voters in our democracy.

Now through March 15, students, parents, and teachers who visit the polls on the Who Was website can fill out a ballot and vote for the subject of the next book in the Who HQ Now series, which focuses on trending topics and prominent figures in the news. Voters will choose between tennis champ Naomi Osaka; dancer, singer, and social media star JoJo Siwa; racecar driver Bubba Wallace; actor and singer Zendaya, and a write-in option. The winner will star in an HQ Now book to be published this fall.

To make the most of the Vote Who HQ Now experience, parents and educators are encouraged to use the non-partisan teaching resources found on iCivics’ Election Headquarters page.Founded by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor in 2009, iCivics is home to digital games and lesson plans designed to provide quality, engaging, and free civic education and ensure that high school students graduate “well prepared and enthusiastic for citizenship.”
