This month, authors make appearances on the Today Show; present debut novels in N.Y.C.; make a return appearance on Good Morning America; and kick off an international book tour.


A Summer of Reading

Author Kate DiCamillo (l.) recorded an interview at New York City’s Books of Wonder bookstore for the Today Show, which aired on Tuesday, June 14, on Jenna Bush Hager’s (r.) special summer edition of the Read with Jenna Jr. Book Club. This list features 27 kid-friendly titles across age groups to get children reading this summer.


A ‘Beautiful’ Debut

Debut author XiXi Tian celebrated the release of her YA novel, This Place Is Still Beautiful (HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray), with a launch event at Yu & Me Books in Manhattan on June 7. GLAAD for Pride Month

Sarah Kate Ellis (l.), author and CEO of GLAAD, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community, appeared on Good Morning America on June 10 to discuss her new picture book, All Moms (Little Bee Books) co-written with her wife, Kristen Ellis-Henderson, and illustrated by Max Rambaldi, as well as the progress and fight for LGBTQ+rights over the last year. “At GLAAD what we decided to do was team up with Little Bee Books and create a series of books that reflect young people’s lives, so that they can see themselves and also build inclusivity and acceptance.”


Kemmerer Hits the Road

Author Brigid Kemmerer kicked off the U.S. leg of her book tour to promote her latest novel, Forging Silver into Stars, a fantasy series opener taking place in the same universe as her Cursebreakers series. Bookstores in Maryland, Texas, Arizona, Utah, and California hosted events for Kemmerer from June 4 through 11, where she appeared in conversation with authors such as J. Elle, Allison Saft and Tara Sim, and Bill Konigsburg. The European portion of the tour in July will include stops in Amsterdam, Barcelona, and London.
