Recently authors saw their name in city lights, headed off on a book tour, and dressed as their characters for a school visit.


Bright Lights, Big City

On March 21, Heather McGhee and her YA book The Sum of Us (Delacorte), adapted from her nonfiction book for adults, were featured on a Times Square billboard for her Microsoft FLIP Professional Development event. The book highlights racial and economic inequalities.


Head of the Class

Melissa de la Cruz (l.) made an appearance at Houston bookstore Blue Willow Bookshop on March 2 for a stop on her book tour promoting The Headmaster’s List (Roaring Brook). De la Cruz was joined by Katharine McGee (r.) for a conversation about the novel and a q&a, followed by a book signing.


Character Look-Alike

The students of Nuner Fine Arts Academy in South Bend, Ind., gave author T.P. Jagger a warm welcome when he visited their school on March 14 to present his new middle grade series Hide and Geek (Random House). Dressed up like one of the book’s characters, Jagger spoke with students about the series opener Hide and Geek and its follow-up, The Treasure Test.
