Recently, a Caldecott Medalist held a draw-along event; authors teamed up for a book launch; and picture book creators appeared in conversation.

The Dog Days of Summer

Caldecott Medalist Doug Salati made a fitting appearance at the American Kennel Club Museum in New York City on July 15 for a storytime and draw-along for his award-winning picture book Hot Dog (Knopf). The picture book follows a dachshund and his human as they travel out of the city for a sunny day at the beach.


Double Trouble

Books of Wonder in New York City held a double launch event for authors Sayantani DasGupta (l.) and Gordon Korman on July 16. Dasgupta and Gordon discussed their latest middle-grade titles, Secrets of the Sky #1: The Chaos Curse (Scholastic Press) and Mixed Up (Scholastic Press), respectively.

On June 19, Black Pearl Books in Austin welcomed author Chris Barton (r.) for a launch party celebrating his latest picture book, Glitter Everywhere! Where It Came From, Where It’s Found & Where It’s Going, illustrated by Chaaya Prabhat (Charlesbridge). Fellow picture book author Anne Wynter (l.) joined Barton in conversation, after which he signed books for attendees.
