Sourcebooks has announced that Jennifer Gonzalez has joined the publisher as senior v-p and publisher of children’s books. Gonzalez comes to Sourcebooks from Macmillan, where she is stepping down as president of sales on February 2.

“Over the course of her career, Jennifer’s exceptional ability to analyze the marketplace and identify new opportunities has helped create dozens of successes across genres and categories,” said Sourcebooks publisher and CEO Dominique Raccah. “Her extensive experience in so many areas of the business will be hugely impactful in her new role leading editorial vision and marketing strategy for our children’s business.”

Her appointment as publisher marks something of a career shift for Gonzalez, which Raccah also pointed out in her statement, saying it was Gonzalez's "dream" to be "on the publishing side.” Prior to joining Macmillan, she was director of sales at Random House and director of sales and brand initiatives at Candlewick Press.

Sourcebooks has become one of the largest children’s publishers in the U.S., and closed 2023 with sales up 19% across its juvenile and young adult imprints.

“I’m excited to join such a creative and innovative team at Sourcebooks who share my commitment to getting great books to as many children as possible,” Gonzalez said.
