The Brooklyn Book Festival celebrates 20 years of putting on literary programming for New Yorkers this weekend. The 10th annual Children’s Day and the Children’s Book Market, which welcome young readers and families for a day of activities, storytimes, and conversations with authors, will take place on Saturday, September 20 at Brooklyn Borough Hall and Plaza in downtown Brooklyn.
On the Picture Book Stage, early readers can attend storytimes with writers and illustrators such as Nick Bruel, Edwidge Danticat, John Patrick Green, Abby Hanlon, Ryan T. Higgins, and more. The Young Reader’s Stage will feature panels from authors including the Pumphrey brothers, Meg Medina, Tiffany D. Jackson, and Rita Williams-Garcia, among others. The Performance Stage will host storytimes throughout the day for visitors to enjoy. And the Workshop Room and a dedicated Makers & Creators area will have hands-on activities and crafts for young readers.
