Who Wants to Be 'Famous'’

On September 13, husband-and-wife team Barry Lyga (r.) and Morgan Baden celebrated the launch of Baden’s newest middle grade series, Famous Anonymous (Pixel+Ink), at [words] bookstore in Maplewood, N.J. The book follows a set of friends who make a viral video, and despite clamoring fans asking for more content, they must keep their identities anonymous to avoid trouble with their parents. Baden and Lyga held a conversation, and the event closed with a q&a and signing.


By Invite Only

On September 21, Lovestruck Books in Cambridge, Mass., gave author Alexandra Brown Chang a warm welcome for the launch event for her debut YA novel, By Invitation Only (S&S). The novel follows a group of debutantes selected to make their debuts in high society and finds scholarship student Piper and socialite Chapin at odds. A 'Tiny' Visit

Author Jonathan Stutzman headed off on tour to launch the newest book in his Tiny T. Rex series, Tiny T. Rex and The First Day Oopsie (Chronicle). The picture book follows the titular dinosaur as he navigates his first day of school. On September 19, Stutzman made a visit to Saint Cecilia Catholic School in Houston, hosted by local bookstore Blue Willow to present to 180 students and lead a drawing demonstration. A 'Killer' Library Event

Maynard Public Library in Maynard, Mass., and local bookstore Silver Unicorn Bookstore hosted Julie Berry for an event in celebration of her YA novel If Looks Could Kill (S&S) on September 23. The novel, set in 1888 New York City, follows a young woman willing to do anything to save a friend from a brothel while Jack the Ripper haunts the streets. Berry discussed infusing mythology with true crime, and theories around Jack the Ripper; she ended the evening with a q&a and a book signing.


A Star Across the Globe

On September 20, Mercedes Ron paid a visit to local movie theater, Temeku Cinemas in collaboration with In Bloom Bookery in Temecula, Calif., for an event to present the first installment in the English translation from Spanish of the Tell Me series, Tell Me Softly (Bloom Books). The romance centers around a fraught love triangle between Kamila and the two DiFranco brothers. At the event, Ron chatted with readers, signed copies of the book, and guests enjoyed a screening of Culpa Mía, an Amazon Prime adaptation of one of her books. A 'G.O.A.T.' Signing

Caroline L. Perry celebrated the launch of Messi’s Magic: How Lionel Messi Became the G.O.A.T. with a visit to New York City bookstore Books of Wonder on September 18 to sign stock copies.
