In an effort to make its site easier and more productive to use, Lulu.com has teamed with Elastic Path, an e-commerce provider, to upgrade its Web site. The revamped self-publishing site now offers a registration-less checkout, currency support, customizable marketing tools and faster browsing, in addition to Lulu.com’s e-book publishing services.

There’s more to come. According to a release, the site will begin offering e-commerce APIs (Application Programmer Interfaces), that will allow Lulu self-publishers to build Lulu.com/Elastic Path’s e-commerce tools into their own sites. Lulu.com offers a basic service that allows users to publish print or e-books for free in addition to “premium” services available for a fee.
