Kindle Worlds, Amazon's fan fiction publishing platform, has announced it will be releasing a new work by Wool author Hugh Howey. Peace in Amber will be published January 14, and, Amazon explained, set in a world inspired by the writing of Kurt Vonnegut and, specifically, the storyline from Slaughterhouse-Five involving Billy Pilgrim and the Tralfamadorians.

Vonnegut's novel, which was semi-autobiographical and pulled from the author's experiences in World War II during the firebombing of Dresden, is, Howey said something that "moved me as few works of fiction ever have. It was the autobiographical nature of the work, this exploration of Dresden's bombing through the eyes of a survivor. I don't think I would have found the courage to write about my 9/11 experience without Vonnegut's work as an example."

Amazon, which noted that Wool is one of the most-reviewed science fiction novels on Amazon, licensed, through Kindle Worlds, Howey's Silo Saga (the fictional universe featured in the Wool series) last August.
