Marcella Berger, former v-p, director of subsidiary rights at Simon & Schuster, died March 16. She was 74.

Berger was S&S director of subsidiary rights for 35 years and spent most of her book publishing career at the publisher. She was well-known throughout the book industry. Prior to joining S&S, she worked at TY Crowell Co., and The John Day Company. She retired from S&S in 2011.

Among the books whose rights she sold over the years were such titles as, Chronicles by Bob Dylan, The Final Days by Carl Bernstein & Bob Woodward, Living History by Hillary Clinton, A Heartbraking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers, and Good As Good by Joseph Heller among many others.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Arc Mid-Hudson Foundation. A funeral mass will be held March 21 at 9:45 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 82-00 35th Avenue, Jackson Heights, NY 11372.
