Nonesuch Books & Cards is moving from Saco, Maine, to sister city Biddeford in mid-August. According to co-owner Jon Platt, the relocation from the Saco Valley Shopping Center to The Shops at Biddeford Crossing Mall will enable Nonesuch to “significantly expand” our product mix. “Shopping patterns,” said Platt, “have changed over the past ten years, and we need to keep pace with our customers’ expectations.”

The new 5,400 sq. ft. store, roughly 35% (or 1,400 sq. ft.) larger than the one in Saco, will carry new and used books, as well as remainders, children’s education products, Hallmark cards, and giftware, like the other Nonesuch store in South Portland. In conjunction with the move, Platt plans to hire additional staff. “Our staff has always been our greatest asset,” he said, noting that many have over 25 years in the book business.

A grand opening of the new store is slated for September.
