Burn, the third volume in Maya Banks's Breathless trilogy, knocked The Casual Vacancy out of the top spot on the trade paperback list for the week ended August 11 at outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan. Burn sold 25,613 copies in its first week on sale compared to 22,051 for Vacancy. Rush, the first book in the Breathless series, has sold just under 100,000 print copies at BookScan outlets since its release in February. The second title, Fever, has sold 67,000 copies. Berkley has signed Banks to a write a new series.

On the hardcover side, Hothouse, Boris Kachka’s inside look at the history of Farrar Straus & Giroux, sold just over 1,000 copies at BookScan outlets. The book attracted lots of media attention in New York and the city accounted for about one-third of print sales.
