The Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships for the 2014-’15 academic year in higher education from now through the end of February. This year the foundation has expanded its program to offer a total of $198,500 through two $10,000 scholarships and 51 $3,500 scholarships for current bookstore employees, owners, and their dependents, as well as former Borders Group employees and their dependents. Students who aren’t able to use the entire award in the upcoming academic year can use part of the funds for consecutive academic years.

“We received such positive feedback regarding the scholarships awarded in 2013, that when it came time to plan for the 2014 scholarship program, it made sense to expand the program,” said Binc executive director Pam French. Since 2001, Binc has provided more than $1.1 million to nearly 500 students.

More information and applications are available at Scholarship America, which is handling the program again this year.
