Thanks to a Google Doodle commemorating Rachel Carson's 107th birthday on May 27, the writer and environmentalist's signature work, Silent Spring, jumped nearly 3,000 spots on Amazon's bestseller list on Tuesday afternoon.

Houghton Mifflin's 40th anniversary edition paperback, released in 2002, rose from the 3,294 spot to 375, reaching the fourth spot on the retailer's Movers and Shakers list, which tracks the biggest gainers in sales.

The edition, which has sold 221,741 copies to date, according to the outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan, also ranked #1 on the Environmental Science and Conservation charts.
