Barry Brover has been appointed executive v-p, operations at Barnes & Noble Education, and executive v-p of Barnes & Noble College, effective January 1, 2019. Brover succeeds Patrick Maloney, who will retire in April after 45 years working at BNC.

Also following in the wake of Maloney’s upcoming retirement, Thomas D. Donohue, senior v-p, treasurer and investor relations, has been named executive v-p, chief financial officer of BNED, succeeding Brover. Donohue will continue to direct the company’s treasury and investor relations functions. In addition, BNC chief operating officer Lisa Malat will take on expanded duties, among them leading BNC’s marketing and sales teams.

Brover, Donohue and Malat will take over the range of Maloney’s responsibilities and each will report to Michael P. Huseby, chairman, chief executive officer. David Henderson, president BNED subsidiary MBS Textbook Exchange, will also report directly to Huseby.

Maloney, who began working for B&N while still a college student, said it was a “privilege to lead the company’s operations since 2007,” and added that he was looking forward to “working with Mike, Barry and Lisa in the coming months to achieve an orderly transition of responsibilities.”

Huseby thanked Maloney for his lengthy service and “his leadership at BNED the past three years.” He added: “We are excited about our growth prospects as we continue to advance BNED’s vision of becoming a premier provider of both physical and digital educational services.”
