Written by Mark Long and Jim Demonakos, The Silence of Our Friends is a semi-autobiographical story which follows a white and black family in segregated 1967 Texas. The story is told from the point of view of a young Mark Long, whose father is a reporter covering the story of five black college students unjustly charged with the murder of a policeman. The struggle to free these students brings the two families together. The Silence of Our Friends is illustrated by the Eisner award-winning creator Nate Powell and will be released by First Second on January 17th.
