Alistair Burtenshaw has been appointed to head Reed Exhibitions’ Publishing & Book Group, which includes the London Book Fair, Book Expo America, Bienal do Livro Sao Paulo, Tokyo International Book Fair, E-book Japan, and Salon du Livre, Paris. He has been director of LBF.

Bright Group International has appointed Lauren Holowaty as children’s literary agent, running the Bright Literary Agency. This division is responsible for picture book and fiction authors, and developing new content. Holowaty was previously at Penguin Children’s Books.

Free Press announced three promotions this week. Leah Miller is now editor, and Maura O’Brien and Sydney Tanigawa are both now assistant editors.

Ashley Hewlett has been promoted to associate publicist at Touchstone. Hewlett joined Touchstone in April 2010 as a publicity assistant and has worked on campaigns for The Mistaken Wife, Touchstone’s Dale Carnegie books, and other titles.

Claire Von Schilling, who has been v-p, corporate communications at Sony Music Entertainment since 2006, is joining Random House, Inc., next month as senior v-p, corporate communications. Von Schilling was previously senior director, corporate communications, for Bertelsmann, Inc.

St. Martin’s Press editor Alyse Diamond is leaving the company to accept a position as talent business executive at Open Sky, an ecommerce company.
