Rich Freese has been named president and chief executive officer at Recorded Books. Freese, who was most recently president of National Book Network, is replacing Scott Williams.
Freese, who has over 30 years of experience in the industry, has a deep background in distribution having worked for, in addition to NBN, both Bookmasters and PGW. Recently Recorded Books, which produces and releases audio titles, announced plans to launch a downloadable audio service fpr libraries with Ingram. Freese's hire also likely speaks to the company's desire to expand its reach in digital distribution. He started at Recorded Books today.
Ron Schlosser, head of Record Books' parent company Haights Cross, said: "Rich is a strong leader who will ensure Recorded Books is focused on achieving its aggressive business goals as well as tracking market trends and utilizing customer feedback about their needs and our strategy and approaches."
