Keith Pfeffer has been named senior director of national accounts at McGraw-Hill, handling Borders, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Ingram and Baker & Taylor. Pfeffer arrives from the Hachette Book Group, where he was director of sales.

Bestselling author Nelson DeMille has been elected president of the Mystery Writers of America. DeMille will serve a one-year term through February 2008. Voted to the MWA's board are: Frankie Y. Bailey, secretary; Bob Williamson, treasurer; and Daniel J. Hale, executive v-p.

Kevin Hanson, president of Simon & Schuster Canada, has been named president of the Canadian Publishers' Council. Brad Martin, CEO and president of Random House Canada, was named v-p.

Archaia Studios Press, a comics publisher based in Fort Lee, N.J., has hired Joe Illidge as editor. Illidge, a veteran comic book editor, will oversees the house's creators and various projects.
