September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and Avon Books is joining forces with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to urge women to learn about the symptoms of ovarian cancer. Avon has made an initial donation of $25,000 to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance and has also committed to donating 25 cents from the sale of each book and e-book bearing OCNA’s "K.I.S.S. and Teal" logo and motto, sold between August 30 and February 28 of next year.

Carrie Feron,v-p and editorial director for Avon, said, "So many of us have had friends and family members affected by the disease. It’s touched my own family; and has impacted many women in the lives of authors such as Eloisa James and Cathy Maxwell."

"Advances for ovarian cancer will occur only if we mobilize a powerful national movement to demand change, beginning with vastly increased attention to research," said Dr. Karen Orloff Kaplan, the chief executive officer of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. "Partnering with Avon Books to launch the K.I.S.S. and Teal campaign allows us to reach out to the millions of women who read romance, and to ask them to help spread our message of awareness."
