Simon & Schuster foreign rights directors will be bringing videos to the Frankfurt Book Fair to be used as not only a promotional tool but to license them as well to international partners.

Through an agreement with Dotsub, S&S can now add translated subtitles to author interview and book trailer videos. The technology, S&S said, will allow it to license videos in translation in addition to the foreign rights deals it makes for its books, and give foreign publishers the ability to make greater use of video as promotional tool in their local markets. In addition, S&S can also create English-language subtitles for the video to be used in in venues where sound is frequently not audible, like airports and supermarkets.
